This small beach is part of Rio das Ostras’ Rocky Shores Natural Monument. Its vegetation is typical of the region, with many bromeliads, cacti, orchids, small bushes, almond and coconut trees. It’s a natural reserve, with calm, crystal-clear waters that are great for children to splash around, with rocks at its borders. It is located very close to Ilha do Coqueiro (Coconut Tree Island).
The Rocky Shores Natural Monument is an extensive stretch of rocks situated between Praia da Joana and Praça da Baleia (Whale Square). City Hall made it an ecological reserve and it offers a great richness of fauna and flora – as well as a beautiful view of the sunset.
